In praise of: Your mom's house

I will admit: I am incredible immature. Not all the time, but ... more often than not. I really like "your mom" jokes. Not "your momma" jokes, but answering questions related to one's whereabouts with, "at your mom's house." I really like doing this. I hate that I like doing it, but a friend of mine used to do it and I picked it up from her a few years ago.
Why is this relevant? Wonderful question. Today I would like to praise not only the joke itself, but the hilarious folks over at ready.gov (you know, the government's disaster preparation website, brought to you by the hilarious Department of Homeland Security) for providing a visual for my favorite punchline. I saw this today in one of their online ads:

Taken in the context of the ad, it's saying, "know where your loved ones are in case of an emergency." Taken in the context of me, it's saying, "YOUR MOM'S HOUSE," and it's the most brill thing I've seen in a while. Also: I did not Photoshop it at all.
Yeah ... I'm 12.

I think the subtext is: "rather than at home, where she lives, because she's such a whore, but luckily we tracked her down for you, so you can get her prepared for the disaster, that skank."
Also the word veri is "gyrsvy" which means "your Mom lives in jersey and has scurvy." - At 8/09/2007 3:12 AM, Annie said...

that floating "all right!" just made my night.
as soon as I get back to nyc i'll send you that real mccoy song.
word veri = gvtamj which translates to:
no. 2 minutes is way too long to think about that. all i came up with was that the last 3 letters stood for "am-jay," or the pig latin version of "jam"

riese: I have nothing to say to what you posted, as it was v. funny and I have no witty comeback. you win. also thank god for GPS, right?
annie: re: real mccoy: yay! also, perhaps "gvtamj" refers to the government as well as a jam ... I think it's somehow related to the subways all being shut down yesterday. - At 8/09/2007 9:10 PM, MoonKiller said...

I've gotten into the annoying habit of saying 'Oh, thank your mom for last nite' or 'Tell your mom I'll pick her up at 8' whenever leaving someones presence. Surprisingly I'm one of the most mature people I know.

I hear an endless amount of Mum/Mom jokes at work. My Mum is everyones boss, a power-suit head honcho etc.
The workplace humour has [d]evolved to the point where no-one bothers being clever/witty anymore - the standard response to most things I say is simply... "Your Mum"
Of course I'm too mature to partake. I would never make jokes about my mother/boss.

moonkiller: We would probs. get along very well then.
crystal: That really takes 'your mom' jokes to a whole new, weird level, yeah?
