Q: Why don't I ever sleep? Why don't I have a job?

A: Because I do things like this.

1. On my website, I have a page that's supposed to be my non-fiction and fiction. There's links to stuff that's been published online, but the same disclaimer's been up for about two years: "This section, much like life itself, is a work in progress."

2. Thank you for enjoying all these things at the same time, just as I do:

-poe, the cardigans, melissa ferrick, britney spears/inthezone, portishead, postal service, peaches, basement jaxx, death cab, depeche mode, justin timberlake, kelly clarkson, the decemberists, sleater-kinney, underworld, tegan&sarah, scissor sisters.

guess that's a pretty typical queer hipsterish assemblage of musical tastes, now that i think about it. maybe it's cuz i'm dating a music snob, i feel my taste's are weird.

3. have you read ali smith's memoir? name all the animals? i just did. it was sad and beautiful. did you like same sex in the city? i thought it was annoying. this's a small world though, so maybe they're your friends, in which case, best book ever.

1. I will always have to disclaimer myself and my stuff because I have this amazing ability to start anything and finish nothing. And on top of that I tend to surround myself with people who are just like me, so then we do things together, and we never finish those things either.

2. I once thought of myself as a music snob -- and still sort of do -- although I guess that that title is negated when I do things like listen to Britney Spears (or see her live ... what a great show that was). And I'm glad you like Poe, there should be more people who do.

3a. I did not know that Ali Smith had a memoir out, so I will have to go pick that up. I was in Target the other day and saw that The Accidental was one of their featured books, and I realized I hadn't read that one either. And I said to myself, "Carly, buy this and read it on the subway, becaus you're always saying you need to start reading again, because pretty soon you're going to forget how." And then something flashy caught my eye in the electronics section and I was gone.

3b. I actually didn't finish reading same sex in the city because after jumping around the more exciting parts I got to the parts about breakups and I was like "bleh" and put it down. It was okay. And the only way I'll become friends with the authors is if Logo finally gives me a job (that's some really roundabout logic but it sorta makes sense ... sorta).

4. Did you really read my entire site? I think you're the only person, aside from myself, who has.

1. ditto, obvs.

2. Always wanted to see her live. Not anymore, s'pose it wouldn't be the same. I don't necessarily think of what she does as "music" when it comes to judging "good" or "bad" music. She just sort of entertains through melody, and I dig it. I felt like "bubblegum pop" was always an accurate way to describe her activities. Plus, she was smokin' hot. Unfortunately I guess the world ate her alive. I think she has an exhibitionist fetish. I'm gonna stop thinking about Britney Spears right now.

3a. Read!
3b. I gave my copy to Haviland and she was skipping around, and I was like "what're you doing?" and she said "I'm just reading your notes. Your notes are funny, but this book blows. I woulda liked to read this when I was 15.."
Not roundabout logic at all, I'd be their BFFs for a job writing for logo-online. Though maybe they don't pay, cuz like, OurChart pays $0 to it's guestbians. Hm.

4. maybe.

2. Saw her before she completely lost her mind, and it was spectacular. My roommate at the time really fagged out on that one and joined her online fan club so he could get better seats via the presale, and I got amazing seats and had a gay ol' time. However, I am very concerned that she will never reach that level of hotness ever, ever again.

3a. Ok! And I second Haviland's comment, re: same sex in the city.
3b. Re: Effing OurChart: My feelings on OurChart can be expressed in this video. Although I really do love when the Leisha and Kate respond to fan questions and I'm kinda intrigued by Girltrash! ... other than that ... eh.

4. Well it's not like there was that much to read anyway.

ha! my friend j-nads, who's the 'new media' agent at UTA in LA (speaking of if you wanna go to LA to work in TV...also, jason and i wrote a really amazing lesbian sitcom. i should give it to you, then give you to him, and then we can make wheels turn turn turn, cuz i can't make any wheels turn now that i've got a new computer without final draft on it) sent me an email titled "i know funny lesbians too" with a link to that video.

I don't think she'll ever be that hot again either. Though I'd give her bonus hot points, un-attached to actual hot-ness level, if she were to come out, or something. That'd be good for bisexual visibility. Another lunatic slut-a-rific exhibitionist weirdo. So scratch that. Only if she came out as a lesbian.

i am serious--and also realized I can't even open it, and also I'm not sure if we made a new draft after our giant "I told you so" fiasco in which j-nads IMed me to say that yes, it turns out, I was right after all, he started watching season one of the l word and realized one particular storyline that he'd been pushing for and I'd been resisting was too much like Tim-Jenny (as I'd said, I believe, IN ALL CAPS, in fact)...but still. We should um, look at it, etc?
